Shipa Tempered Glass is being used increasingly in architecture because of its strength and safety properties. It is usually installed in areas where safety glass is required to lessen the pssibility of mechanical or thermal breakage and/ or to assure greater uniform load strength. Glass is tempered by taking annealed glass and heating it to softening point of approximately 660 C. Its structure is then rapidly cooled while the inner core is allowed to cool gradually. This results is layer of high compression on the surface counter balancing by high tension at the center resulting in a glass that is four to five times stronger than annealed glass. Should accidental breakage occur, the resulting fragments are smaller and granular, causing minimum injury.

Shipa Heat Strengthened Glass is a semi tempered glass which is valued as it retains the normal properties of annealed glass including chemical resistance, hardness expansion and deflection but with the exceptional strength & breakage characterstics.

Shipa Heat Strengthened Glass is made by evenly heating float glass to approximately 650 C. the ceramic roller transmits glass at a speed to ensure an even temperature and optical performance.

Heat Soaking is a quality contol check carried out, when specified, to detect and reject any toughened glass that may have inclusions (Nickel Sulphate) or edge defects that may cause breakage after installation.

The ordinary curved glass is achieved by heating the glass to softening temperature and then bending by weight or external force, followed by natural cooling. The curved tempered glass or curved heat strengthened glass is made by fast cooling with air blowing after formation. An Insulating glass is made by fusing two or more glass panes spaced by dry air or inert gas. The system is perfected by seperating the glass panes with an aluminium spaced tube, joined at each corner and filled with a specially designed absrbent. The unit is then sealed around the perimeter with a flexible sealant \.
